Villa "Navone" in Chiavari is an early work of the architect Fioravante Carbone (1871-1947) who opposed the architectural styles in fashion at the beginning of the 20th century in Levante Liguria.
The "mansard" roof rests on a precious structure and ends the façade with a 75° pitch, entirely covered with slate. The vivid structure exalts the blue-grey roofing which intervenes as a determinant element in the architectural process, remaining an isolated episode in the city fabric. Temperatures remain stable in rooms roofed with slate because of its low conductivity, and, with its 20-30 mm thickness, insulation problems are also solved.
